The way we heat and ventilate our homes, offices and factories today, is a far cry from the simple wood-burning stoves, open windows and doors of the past. Complex, energy-efficient air-handling systems programmable for many different operating scenarios are now being used for these tasks. Also, sophisticated refrigeration equipment has completely revolutionized the way we preserve our food and perishable goods. All these advances mean that a wide range of technical skills and knowledge is required for personnel who install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems.
Lab-Volts's Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program is focused on providing practical, hands-on training for the wide spectrum of equipment and systems currently used in domestic and industrial environments. Basic programs allow students to become familiar with the physics and devices used in HVAC systems, and practice skills related to wiring, piping, evacuating, charging, testing and troubleshooting. Intermediate courses in domestic and commercial applications of these systems allow development of competencies in installation, maintenance and repair. Advanced study programs incorporate PLC system control of air, humidity and temperature parameters, and provide students with useful and practical experience of more-elaborate air management systems.
